Arrest Made in Home Invasion Shooting Death

Reginald James Rose of North Charleston arrested for the fatal shooting of Leland Shannon Jr. of Lincolnville.

A Tuesday morning slaying in Lincolnville has led to a North Charleston man being charged with four counts related to the alleged murder. 

On Wednesday, Charleston County Sheriff's Office arrested Reginald James Rose of North Charleston for his involvement in the shooting of Leland Shannon Jr. of Lincolnville early Tuesday morning. 

Deputies confirmed the man killed is Lincolnville Councilman Leland Shannon's son. Shannon . The shooting occured just down the street from town hall.

Rose is currently being held at the Charleston County Detention Center. He will be charged with murder, attempted murder, burglary first degree, and possession of a firearm during the commission of violent crime. Bond hearing is 7 p.m. Wednesday.

On Tuesday at around 12:41 a.m., the Charleston County Sheriff’s deputies responded to 805 W. Carolina Ave. to investigate a report of a home invasion. Upon deputies’ arrival, they were met by a witness who stated that an unknown black male dressed in all black wearing a mask forced his way into the residence and shot the victim, Leland Shannon Jr., in the upper thigh.

The witness also stated that there were at least two additional unknown black males suspect that participated in this crime. They all fled the scene in an unknown direction.

The victim was transported to MUSC to undergo emergency surgery for his injuries. However, Shannon died at 7:10 a.m.
