Deal Reached for Dorchester 2 Bus Drivers, Durham

Dorchester County School District Two and Durham officials confirm deal between bus drivers and company.

SUMMERVILLE — The threat of a school bus strike appears to be over for Dorchester County School District Two.

Wednesday evening, Durham School Services and Dorchester Two spokespersons released statements confirming Teamster Local 509 members have ratified an agreement with the private company that runs the bus system. A vote for Charleston County School District will happen over the weekend, according to reports.

Trouble began in January as negotiations between school transportation contractor Durham and its unionized employees stalled. in the negotiations. At one point, a strike appeared inevitable and school district officials warned parents and the community to prepare alternate methods of transportation.
