Friday Football: Ashley Ridge, Summerville Fall in First Games

Results from Friday night's action; Fort Dorchester's game delayed.

The Swamp Foxes and the Greenwave are both 0-1 after their season opening games this week.

When facing the state champion, the results were as expected: It wasn't effortless, but the Goose Creek Gators proved once again they're the force to be reckoned with in S.C. high school football. Goose Creek beat Ashley Ridge 48-16.

Ashley Ridge will go on to play Wando at home next week.

Summerville traveled down the road to Cane Bay Friday. It was the Cobras' first AAAA challenge and they bested the Wave, 10-3. It's 1-0 for Cane Bay as they travel to Ford Dorchester for week two.

Summerville faces Berkeley High at home next week.

Fort Dorchester was scheduled to play Carolina Forest away, but the game was postponed until 7:30 p.m. Saturday due to heavy rains in the Myrtle Beach area, according to The Post and Courier

If the Wave runners learn to secure the football, maybe John will make his 600 wins before the season is over. I fault John for ot using his second string QB with the starting line, so the QB gets some experience. Even when comfortably ahead, he waits until a few minutes are left int he game to insert the backup QB, then with the backup line. This is frustrating for the QB and does nothing for his confidence. Please, John, get your 600 and turn the HC job to someone with fresh ideas.
