Update: Info Sought on Hit-And-Run

State Patrol seeks clues regarding body found last December on I-26.

Update 7:03 p.m. Feb. 9: Dorchester County Coroner has identified the man killed in the Nov. 6 hit-and-run incident as Adam Dwane Harned, 24, of Reevesville.

DORCHESTER COUNTY — Authorities are seeking information about a hit-and-run near mile marker 177 on Interstate 26, which left a man dead and undiscovered for weeks in the median.

S.C. Highway Patrol said the incident occurred Nov. 6 as the pedestrian was crossing the interstate.

Thursday, Dorchester County Coroner Chris Nisbet confirmed the man's identity as Adam Dwane Harned, 24, of Reevesville. He was positively identified through SLED by comparing DNA from known standards (such as a tooth brush) and DNA from the autopsy, according to Nisbet.

Click here to see the video shown during Harned's funeral in January.

An autopsy showed skull fractures and multiple extremity fractures.

If you have any information about this collision or if you can provide information on the vehicle, contact the South Carolina Highway Patrol at 803-531-6855 or 1-800-768-1507, or you can call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.

Updated to correct month of the funeral.

Harry, please don't judge people like that. I am a white women that moved to South Carolina 11years ago, I noticed as soon as I moved here about the number of pdedstians constantly talked about on the local news as getting hit by cars. Living in Ky and Ohio previously accidents like this were rarely heard of.

Thank you Stanley. This was my son, my baby boy and we have faith that they will find out who killed him and left him like that. The video posted wasn't played in Dec but Jan 28, 2012. at his funeral in Greensburg Ky. We waited that long for the release of his body. RIP now my precious son.

dear ms harned,

cant begin to comprehend the sorrow of losing a child...even more so under these conditions...reasonable sure i could not survive the loss of my daughter...our spoiled only child.

God bless and grant you the peace that passes all understanding...a quote that come to mind in times like these:

"And even in our sleep pain that cannot forget falls drop by drop upon the heart, and in our own despair, against our will, comes wisdom to us by the awful grace of God." (Aeschylus)

sincere sympathy.

I really wish the news and newspapers would run this story as well as others
have been unresolved because you never know who might see it and call with information. Maybe they didn't see it before. We're still praying that the one responsible will come forward .
