Summerville Town Council met Wednesday for its regular meeting at Town Hall.
Here are the actions taken:
- Council unanimously voted to give second and final reading to an ordinance adopting an outdoor cafe ordinance and permit. First reading was given March 14.
- Council unanimously voted to give first reading to an ordinance rezoning 101 W. Butternut Road from B-3 "General Business" to PL "Public Lands." This is town-owned land, which is slated for the new fire station.
- Council unanimously voted to give first reading to an ordinance amending the historic district to include three new properties, including the Old Hospital, owned by the county. First reading was opposed by the county earlier in the week. But council discussed the issue and said they had time before a public hearing and second reading of the ordinance to talk with the county.
- Council voted 6-0, with Councilman Bill McIntosh abstaining, to appoint David Whittington as Chief Municipal Judge. McIntosh abstained because he works in the same office as Whittington.
