Possible Gang Violence Recorded on School Bus

Three arrested and charged after alleged assault on Dorchester Two bus.

Three juveniles were charged with third degree assault and interfering with a school bus operation after allegedly beating up another student on a bus on Sept. 27.

According to the incident report, the victim was accused of "disrespecting" the gang "Folk Nation" and displaying other gang signs by his alleged attackers — both actions the victim denied in the report. Also according to the report, one of the alleged attackers assaulted the victim on the bus the day before, but it went unreported.

Deputies reported the alleged victim had a scratch and bump on the right side of his head after the alleged altercation.

The incident was captured on the bus' surveillance video at 1 p.m. at Saddle Brook Mobile Home Park in North Charleston. Givhans Alternative School Assistant Principal Suzanne DeTreville reported the incident the next morning. 

According to the incident report, the video showed the three suspects walking to the back of the bus and then walking to the front of the bus. As they walked to the front, all allegedly struck the victim in the head with closed fists as they passed.

During the incident, bus passengers stood up in their seat and watched the assault, with one appearing as though he was recording the incident on a cell phone, according to the report.
