Readers' Choice: Name Your Best Hike or Bike Location

We have relaunched our Readers' Choice contest with dozens of new categories, including the best places to hike or bike.

South Carolina’s warm climate sometimes means we’re avoiding the heat in the dead of summer.

But it also means that the rest of the year, we’re free to get out and bike or walk or hike to our heart’s content.

When you’re looking to get the heart rate up, spend some time outdoors with friends or family or just get away, where do you go?

Nominate your favorite place to hike or bike in Goose Creek, Mount Pleasant, Summerville or West Ashley to be part of our “Best Hike or Bike Location” contest as Patch unveils its Readers' Choice. The location must be in or close to one of our Patches to be eligible to win.

Just log in and post your vote in the comments section below. You may nominate multiple places, but please post each nomination  in a separate comment so we can make sure they are all counted.

Nominations are due by July 9.

Voting for Readers’ Choice 2012 will begin in late July and winners will be announced in August.

Best place to walk to in Mt Pleasant is the Pitt St Bridge. I park at Alhambra Hall and walk my dog down Pitt St to the end of the dog park on the Pitt St Bridge and then out over the water. It is a nice brisk walk, the dogs love the smorgasbord of smells and nose-to-nose run-ins with their furry peers, and you're liable to see your dentist, your neighbors, or your councilman enjoying the sun, the breeze and the best views in all of Mt Pleasant. And occasionally, if you're lucky, you'll get to hear a bluegrass band practicing or see an artist capturing the last rays of sun on the tidal creeks and the sunset over the spires of Charleston. Then when you reach the end of the bridge, the back side of Sullivan's Island lets you imagine that you are among the lucky few who wake to the sounds of the sea.
