Sewer Overflow at Oakbrook

Summerville CPW reports another sanitary sewer overflow in Oakbrook area, and advises avoiding contact with water in the area.

Another sewer overflow Friday in the Oakbrook area has the Summerville Commissioners of Public Works advising residents to avoid the waters of Chandler Bridge Creek, Eagle Creek and portions of the Ashley River.

According to a press release, the spill occurred at the same location, 145 Burton Ave., as this summer's . 

In the recent incident, there was a high volume of overflow released from a broken force main south of the bridge on Burton Avenue. Crews are currently working to make the necessary repairs.

Area residents should avoid any contact with the water in these areas for the next few days. S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control has been notified of this spill.
