When you want to see a show where do you go?

Some people love massive arena concerts, some people like a crowded dance floor in a dive bar. This week we want to know which one is the your favorite. Vote for your choice for the best spot in Summerville to catch live music in our poll below, and don't forget to leave a review on its directory listing page. Don't see your favorite in the poll? Comment to vote for it! (It worked for C. Coop winning the Best Mother's Day brunch award.) Voting in the poll below is open until 9 a.m. Friday. We will …

Bottles N Brushes Expands Into West Ashley

Summerville store brings make-your-own-masterpiece to neighboring town.

WEST ASHLEY — You don't have to be an artist to create a masterpiece, and you can have a lot of fun while doing it. The professional artists at Bottles N Brushes are now holding classes of as many as 60 people through the process of making a painting five nights a week at the company's brand new West Ashley location at 1017 Wappoo Road. "We felt like our target market was here," Bottles N Brushes CEO Alyssa Maute said. "We do a ton of stuff for kids and there are a lot of them in West Ashley, and for adults our target market is middle-aged women." The store won Summerville Patch's Best Place to Take Your Valentine readers' contest earlier this year. Bottles N Brushes is a cross between an art class, a working studio and beer and wine mixer…

Vampire Scribe Harris Excited to Head South

Author Charlaine Harris kicks off her national book tour for the 12th book in her Southern Vampire series in West Ashley

The world that the characters of Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse novels inhabit is not much different than our own, except that in her world vampires, shape shifters, fairies and demons are real. Harris' Stackhouse books, also called the Southern Vampire novels, one of multiple series she has penned, are the inspiration for HBO's True Blood television series. The urban fantasy series supposes that vampires, and all manner of fantastic creatures are real. A group of Japanese researchers have created a form of artificial blood, initially for medical uses, that turns out to be an acceptable substitute for actual human blood in the vampire diet, thus allowing the blood suckers to openly integrate into human society. That integration does …

Last Chance, Two Shows: Trace Adkins and New Edition

Busy Thursday in the Lowcounty with the country star and a boy band reunion on the same night.

For this week's Last Chance, we're looking at two shows Thursday at the North Charleston Coliseum and Performing Arts Center.  New Edition will be in the coliseum as part of the R&B boy band's 30th anniversary tour. New Edition 30th Reunion, with After 7, begins at 7 p.m. Thursday. Tickets are still available, from $46 to $66. But it's an eclectic night for the venue, so if New Edition isn't on your playlist, country star Trace Adkins will be at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center next door.
