Pilate famously asked the question, “What is truth?”
Andrew Barber, Assistant DA for a suburban Massachusetts county, wrestles with the same question in William Landay’s hot new novel, Defending Jacob. This fast-paced crime drama, one of the most talked-about books this summer, begins with Barber investigating the cold-blooded killing of a student in his own son Jacob’s middle school. When Jacob Barber emerges as the prime suspect in the murder of his classmate, the search for truth in the courtroom and within the hearts of Jacob’s parents results in what Library Journal describes as “equal parts legal thriller and dysfunctional family drama.” The dialogue is crisp, characters well-drawn, and the plot will keep you hanging on through every twist and turn to the crashing end!
