Auditions for "The Flowertown Players Old Timey Radio Christmas Comedy Show Extravaganza"

From 1938-1946, the Center Theater has been a venue for staged plays, screened films and the popular “Fireside Radio Hour” program. Unfortunately, the theater has been closed down since the end of World War II. It is now 1961, and “The Center Theater Players” are staging an old-timey Christmas radio show to raise money to revitalize the theater and start an acting troupe. The ghosts who reside in the theater, however, are not pleased at this intrusion. They decide to sabotage the production and reclaim their home.

What can we expect?

Jokes, Ghostly mayhem, Christmas songs, and a Radio Play - "Christmas Carol Revisited".

What do we need?

There are singing and non-singing parts. We need an aging crooner, a jazzy starlet, a soulful dreamy-eyed seranader, a couple of "cute" (borderline annoying?!?) wonderkid singers, some good character actors, some people who want to try out the radio-sound effects table, a band, and three very surly ghosts. Not a lot of kids parts, alas, and only for those 12 years old or older.

What should I prepare?

Those who want to be considered for a singing role should prepare 16 measures of a song that showcases their voice. You may bring a CD of prepared music, or you can bring sheet music and a pianist will be provided.

For all parts, we will do cold readings from the script.

Callbacks will be Wednesday, September 26th at 9pm.

Show dates:
December 6-8 and 13-15 at 8pm
December 8-9 and 15-16 at 2pm
