Poll: Majority Say County Going in Right Direction

In a Charleston Trident Association of Realtors poll, 62 percent of participants said, generally speaking, the county is going in the right direction. 

Only 20 percent said the county was going in the wrong direction, and 17 percent said they didn't know or refused to answer. 

The April 17-19 poll surveyed 400 respondents, of whom 43 percent labeled themselves Republicans, 24 percent labeled themselves Democrats and 32 percent labeled themselves Independents. 

This may matter as two county council seats are contested for Tuesday's primary. While there is no data on whether or not the respondents would vote in the Republican primary, 94 percent of them said they were "almost certain" to vote in the fall.

District 4 Councilman Larry Hargett is challenged by John Hull, and District 6 Councilman Bill Hearn is challenged by Roger Goodman. There is no data predicting the outcome of either race.
