Obituary: Col. Tommy Dell Marlatt

Services are Thursday.

Col. Tommy Dell Marlatt, 84, of Summerville, husband of Deborah Wilcox Marlatt, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at his residence.

A gathering of friends and family will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at James A. Dyal Funeral Home from 6 o’clock until hour of service. A memorial service will begin at 7 o’clock PM. Burial will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

Tommy was born on April 8, 1928 in McCloud, OK son of the late Dell Marlatt and Nannie Mote Marlatt. He received his Master’s degree from University of Southern California in Aerospace Engineering. He retired as a Colonel from the United States Army. He was a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam. Tommy served in the Field Artillery and was a pioneer of the air defense artillery branch during the height of the Cold War.

Surviving in addition to his wife Deborah are: Four Daughters: Beth Holycross, Jessica, Samantha & Alison Marlatt all of Summerville; Two Sons: Thomas and Joshua Marlatt of Summerville; Two Grandchildren: Taylor & Jacob Holycross of Summerville; Brother & Sister-In-Law: Keith & Mary Wilcox of St. Louis, MO.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300. Jacksonville, Florida 32256.
