Shirley M. Atkinson, 76, of Summerville, widow of Gurney L. Atkinson, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at Trident Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 1 o’clock PM at James A. Dyal Funeral Home, Oakbrook Chapel, 11000 Dorchester Road, Summerville. Inurnment will follow at Dorchester Memory Gardens.

Shirley was born on March 12, 1937 in Charlotte, NC daughter of the late Rufus T. Brooks and Eliza O’lis Brooks. She loved to watch football and NASCAR.

Surviving are: Two Sons: Glenn L. Atkinson (Debra) of North Charleston and William Edward Atkinson (Rose) of Orange Park, FL; One Daughter: Mary Jojene Atkinson Masten (William) of Summerville; Six Grandchildren: Kaitlyn A. Masten, Thomas Matthew Masten, Jeffrey Smith, Jaclyn Smith, C.J. Cliatt & Amanda Brisson; Three Great Grandchildren: Breydon W. Masten, Justin Smith & Carlina Smith.
