Deputies Arrest Man After Brief Pursuit

James Island man allegedly tried to evade authorities Wednesday.

NORTH CHARLESTON — A man has been arrested and charged after deputies allege he let them on a brief pursuit Wednesday.

Jarrod Akeem Simmons, 21, of James Island was charged with failure to stop for blue lights, reckless driving and driving under suspension third offense. 

Charleston County Sheriff’s deputies attempted to stop Simmons on Highway 78, but he allegedly fled down the highway toward Otranto Road, through the Super Kmart parking lot and then back to Highway 78.

Deputies report the driver bailed from the vehicle which was located off of Buck Run Court in the Salamander Creek subdivision. The driver was subsequently located in the area by K-9 officers.
