Detention Center Employee Accused of Stealing $80,000 from Jail
Lillian L. Thomas, 44, of Walterboro has been charged with one count of Breach of Trust and Misconduct in Office.
SLED agents arrested a Dorchester County Detention Center employee Friday in connection with more than $80,000 in missing deposits from the facility.
Lillian L. Thomas, 44, of Walterboro has been charged with one count of Breach of Trust and Misconduct in Office. The Breach of Trust charge is a felony which caries up to 10 years imprisonment and a fine of $500.
According to authorities, Thomas admitted to stealing an unknown amount of cash deposits from the detention center from Jan. 1 until July 31, 2013. An investigation found that $80,306.10 were unaccounted for.
