Fire Damages Townhouse Off Dorchester Road

American Red Cross volunteers assist Summerville family after Sunday morning fire.

Old Fort Fire Department responded to a Sunday morning fire on Reserve Way, off Dorchester Road. 

American Red Cross volunteers arrived on scene to assist a Summerville family of three affected by the fire. 

In addition to providing comfort for the family, the Red Cross provided one adult and two children temporary shelter in a nearby hotel, financial assistance for food, comfort kits containing personal hygiene items, toys for the children and referrals to Red Cross partner agencies. Disaster Mental Health volunteers are on stand-by if the needed.

Lowcountry Red Cross has assisted 76 individuals affected by disasters, including home fires, in its seven-county region of Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, Dorchester, Hampton and Jasper counties, since July 1 of this year.
