Police Catch Alleged Bank Robber

Summerville Police have arrested and charged Lonnie Gasque with two robberies.

On Wednesday, Summerville Police charged Lonnie Gasque, 37, in connection to the Dec. 22 robbery of National Bank of South Carolina on North Main Street.

Police also have charged Gasque with a Nov. 23, 2010, robbery of a .

He was given a $200,000 surety bond and is being housed at Berkeley County Detention Center on unrelated charges of shoplifting and providing false information to law enforcement. He is charged with two counts of entering a financial institution with intent to steal.

He was booked Dec. 26 in Berkeley County after allegedly stealing and attempting to return a toy at Fred's in Ladson to pocket the $24.95, according to a Berkeley County Sheriff's Office incident report.
