Ross Reeves Funeral Set for Thursday

Reevesville Fire Chief and Summerville firefighter Ross Reeves died early Tuesday; visitation 5 p.m. Wednesday and funeral service 2 p.m. Thursday in St. George.

The community is still reeling from news of the sudden death of a firefighter who served both ends of Dorchester County.

Ross Reeves, 23, died in a car wreck Tuesday. In addition to his duties as fire chief of Cattle Creek, Reeves also served on the Summerville Fire Department since September 2011, according to the Journal Scene.

There will be a visitation 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Bryant Funeral Home in St. George. The funeral is 2 p.m. Thursday at St. George United Methodist Church downtown.

Summerville Fire Chief Richard Waring told the Journal Scene Reeves was "a very dedicated, competent, and well-liked member of the department."

“He’s that guy you meet and five minutes later you love him to death – a great guy – and I’m just sorry I didn’t get to work with him for very long,” he told the Journal Scene.
