Seven Arrested in Cambridge Apt. Burglary

Dorchester County deputies charge seven with burglary first degree for incident off Orangeburg Road.

Seven men and women were arrested and charged with a May 28 burglary at off of Orangeburg Road. 

The burglars reportedly stole around $500 in goods — a television and a computer — after entering an apartment uninvited.

The suspects arrested with the crime are: Shaquanna King, 24, of Summerville; Tamela Denise Walker, 27, of Summerville; Jojuan Benjamin, 22, of Summerville; Leonard Chaplin, 23, of Charleston; Gregory Montez Gilliard, 21, of Summerville; Nathaniel Lamar Gailliard, 23, of James Island; and Lionel Darrell Gordon, 20, of Ravenel. King, Walker and Benjamin all live within the same apartment complex as the burglary. All suspects were present at the apartment when deputies arrived.

According to the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office indicent report, deputies were called out at nearly 3 a.m. in response to a burglary. When deputies arrived, they heard yelling from inside the building, and came upon seven subjects.

The victim of the crime told deputies her television and laptop computer were upstairs, but were now missing. She said none of the subjects present in her home were allowed in and they had broken in during the night, according to the report. The suspects told deputies they were invited but could not provide a name of the person who invited them, the report said.

The allegedly stolen items could not be located, according to the report.
