Summerville High Senior Allegedly Deploys Fire Extinguisher on Officers

An alleged runaway 18-year-old reportedly attempts to break into school.

Summerville Police, responding to a burglary alarm 1 p.m. Tuesday, got a face full of fire extinguishing chemicals when they discovered an 18-year-old at the near the athletic department.

The man, who allegedly suffers from a developmental disorder, reportedly discharged a fire extinguisher at the two officers after allegedly yelling "They're going to get me!" 

Patch has chosen not to disclose the man's name since he has not been arrested or charged in the incident.

According to the incident report, the man complied with officer commands after discharging the extinguisher. One of the officers did draw his weapon, according to the report.

Officers allegedly found multiple knives, gas masks, survival kits and combat clothing in the man's possession.

The man had been reported missing just the day prior to the incident. He was transported to MUSC for treatment.
