Woman Shot 5 Times by Husband

In an attempted murder-suicide Saturday, victim sustained five gunshots.

Deputies found Penny Lynn Mims lying in a neighbor's driveway Saturday night after a botched murder-suicide by her estranged husband, who was found dead inside the home. 

She had suffered two gunshots to the face, two gunshots to her chest and one to her arm — but she was still alive and told deputies her husband had pulled the trigger in the Oakbrook community of Tranquil Hill.

According to the report, a trail of blood lead back to Penny Mims' house across the street.

Deputies discovered Michael E. Mims, 58, dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Dorchester County Coroner Chris Nisbet said Monday this was an attempted murder-suicide by Michael Mims.
