Former Green Wave Player Will Play for CSU Bucs

Dalton Saunders will transfer to Charleston Southern.

A former Summerville Green Wave quarterback will transfer colleges to play for Charleston Southern Buccaneers next season, Live 5 News reported. Dalton Saunders made the announcement Thursday that he would leave Greenville Tech. "I choose CSU because its close to home, I wanted to further my education at a good Christian school, and they gave me a chance to play the game I love." Lady Green Wave Shut Out in Championship Series

Boiling Springs nabs its first state championship title in five innings.

If Boiling Springs was hot during its win in Summerville Monday night, it was even hotter on the team's home turf Wednesday. The Bulldogs had three home runs in four innings and crushed the Green Wave 11-0 before the mercy rule was called in the fifth inning to end the second game of the series and hopes for a Summerville AAAA softball state championship title.  Both teams were vying for their first ever state championship title. Green Wave Loses Game 1 in State Championship

Boiling Springs takes lead in the series with 4-3 win over Summerville.

Boiling Springs found home plate first, and kept the lead over Summerville for much of Monday night in game one of the state championship series.  The teams met for the first time Monday in Summerville. They play again Wednesday in Boiling Springs. The Bulldogs took the lead early in the first inning, and Green Wave answered back in the second inning. In the third, Boiling Springs retook the lead at 2-1.  At the bottom of the third, Summerville touched home plate twice to lead Boiling Springs. But the lead was fleeting. At the top of the fourth, the Bulldogs answered with two of their own runs. Fort D Runner Breaks 100m Hurdles Record

Summerville area runners rack up accolades at State Championship.

A Summerville area runner has broken the state girls' 100 meter hurdle race record, SCRunners.com reported. Green Wave Softball Team Heads to State Championship

Three-game series begins Monday at Summerville.

The Lady Green Wave host Boiling Springs Monday at home for a shot at the state championship title, the Post and Courier reported. The softball team defeated Bluffton Friday for the Lower State championship, and will now try to clinch the team's first ever state championship title.  Monday's game is the first of three in the championship series.   Click here to read more (subscription required). Lady Green Wave Advance to Lower State Championship

Summerville team shuts out Dutch Fork.

Summerville Green Wave softball team will advance onto the Lower State championships after a doubleheader sweep against Dutch Fork Wednesday. Green Wave (23-7) beat the Silver Foxes (20-10) 1-0, The State reported. Summerville ended Dutch Fork’s softball season with a doubleheader sweep on Wednesday in the District 8 championship round. Speak Out: Marcus Lattimore Joins 49ers

USC running back taken in the fourth round of the 2013 NFL Draft.

Marcus Lattimore is now a San Francisco 49er. The former star USC running back was taken as the 131st overall pick in the fourth round of the NFL Draft on Saturday afternoon. Lattimore is the first player out of Byrnes High School to have ever been drafted by an NFL team. Once a predicted first-rounder, many were wondering whether Lattimore might get drafted at all after a devastating knee injury this past season against Tennessee. By all accounts, Lattimore has made an incredible recovery, saying that he would be ready to play by the start of the upcoming NFL season. Green Wave CB Darin Smalls Receives Offer from Tennessee

Volunteers the latest to offer to Summerville football player.

The offers keep rolling in for Summerville Green Wave player Darin Smalls. The latest is Tennessee, which made the offer on Monday to the cornerback, 247Sports.com reported.  Virginia Tech, Florida State, N.C. State and Georgia Tech have already offered to the junior Green Wave player. The University of South Carolina Gamecocks were the first to offer to Smalls in December. Smalls has an upcoming, unofficial visit to Virginia Tech Saturday.  So far, 247Sports.com is predicting Smalls will sign with the Gamecocks since he expressed interest in the team in February.

Free Student Physicals Offered at Ashley Ridge, Cane Bay

Trident Health offering free physicals for student athletes twice this month.

Trident Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation is offering free pre-participation physicals to all Dorchester County students. Physicals are: All physicals will include a general medical and musculoskeletal screen; on-hand staff will consist of athletic trainers, orthopaedic physicians, and primary care physicians. Staff from Lowcountry Orthopaedics and South Carolina Sports Medicine will also be on hand.  Student athletes should contact their school coaches or athletic trainers for more information. They may also call Trident Sports at 843-847-4873.

One-Armed Little Leaguer Shines on the Diamond

Summerville Little League's season began March 17, and for the fourth consecutive year, Jagger Kenyon will return as a first baseman.
