Hearing Date Set in Haley Ethics Suit

House Ethics Committee later this month will hear case alleging Haley lobbied illegally.

The S.C. House Ethics Committee said Thursday it will hold a hearing June 28 on allegations that Gov. Nikki Haley lobbied illegally while a House member. The committee will decide what witnesses to subpoena at a meeting next Thursday. Haley also will be allowed to call witnesses at the hearing, according to a report by The State newspaper. It's unclear whether Haley will be subpoenaed, the paper said. The governor has been accused of lobbying illegally for Lexington Medical Center and Wilbur Smith Associates while she served in the House. Haley earned $110,000 annually as a fundraiser for the hospital, and earned $42,500 for her work as a consultant for Wilbur Smith. Haley has vigorously denied any illegality or ethics violations.  “…

House Committee Re-Opens Haley Allegations

House Ethics Committee asks for additional information just weeks after dismissing the allegations of Gov. Nikki Haley's alleged violations as representative.

The alleged ethics violations of the governor — a matter thought to have been settled just weeks ago — has been reassessed and reopened by the Republican-controlled House Ethics Committee, which is asking for more information from the governor's office and former employer Lexington Medical Center by noon May 25. A Democratic-pushed resolution landed Gov. Nikki Haley's alleged ethics violations back in the committee Friday. The governor was accused of lobbying for former employers while she served as a state representative.  The committee voted 5-1 May 2 to dismiss the complaint filed against the governor.  But Richland Democrat Rep.
