Welcome to Patch.Com and the Dorchester County Democratic Party Chair “Blog”.  My name is Richard Hayes, and I am the Chairperson of the Dorchester County Democratic Party.  The Goal of this blog will be to educate the voters of Summerville and Dorchester County on the issues that we face and to give you the reader information so you can make informed votes during the upcoming elections in our area.  I firmly believe, and will strive, to present the facts, so that we all can make informed votes when we go to the polls. What I plan to talk about in future blogs are issues that we in the area are deeply concerned about, and frankly are not being addressed.  Issues like developing a strong public education system that is financially viable now and in the future; job creation so that our area is more than a bedroom community for Charleston, and taking care of our children and elders  – for me a moral responsibility.
