We Need to Start Voting!

This Tuesday the south part of the County will go to the polls to elect a mayor and city council for North Charleston.  This is especially critical for Westcott and Coosaw Creek, as they are a brand new district without an incumbent.

The expectations are that we may have 15 to 20% of the eligible votes perform the most sacred of duties in our democratic society, and that is vote in free elections.  On November 11th we honor the MILLIONS of young men and women who have died protecting our country and our right to vote.  I myself spent 32 years in the United States Air Force.  I cannot fathom why people do not take this sacred duty more seriously.  I have heard all the excuses, and 99% of them are absolutely rubbish. I refuse to listen anymore to anyone complain about our governments (Democrat or Republican), if they have not voted.

Although I sympathize with the “Occupy Wall Street” demonstrations – the fact is most those people demonstrating do not bother to vote.  One place where we are all equal is in the voting booth – period.

So if you are in the cities of Mt. Pleasant, Charleston, or North Charleston, please VOTE on Tuesday.  For the rest of us – please make a commitment to yourself, your neighbors, your country that in this next year you will vote in the Primaries and the General Election (next November). Make sure you are registered and have a valid Voter Identification.  Make sure your neighbor is registered and has a valid voter registration ID.  If you have any questions, contact your Democrat or Republican Precinct President, and they will be glad to help you get your voter ID. Remember, it is your duty as a citizen of the United States of America to vote.
